Meet Our Senior Management Team
Hugh EvansBSc Hons (Comp. Sc.)
Chief Executive Officer aka “Huge Man”
Hugh proudly founded and built Moneytech from the ground up. He is passionate about helping businesses grow and succeed. And little wonder. Because Hugh is a true entrepreneur who’s been instrumental in the set-up and sale of three very successful businesses prior to Moneytech. One of those, Agate Technology, he grew from just three staff into the leading niche storage distribution company in both Australia and New Zealand. When it was sold, just 8 years after starting, Agate employed 65 staff with annual revenues exceeding $96 million.
He emigrated from South Africa to Sydney in 1989. But he’s OK now. In his spare time, he’s a cyclist, private pilot and a huge rugby fan (supporting the Wallabies, of course).
Sonja SandralDip App Science
General Manager aka "The General General"
Sonja joined Moneytech in 2004 and has been actively involved in the growth and progression of the company ever since. Prior to joining Moneytech, Sonja had 9 years’ experience at Telstra (Australia’s leading telco) in the National Media team. She is our go-to person whenever a new plan, product or system needs to be implemented and taken to market. Keeping us on our toes, on track and on schedule while still finding time to handle all our marketing AND run a family of 7 humans, 2 dogs and 3 cats. Phew!
She loves sitting down with the whole family to watch sport and, every once in a while, she takes off with the kids to explore remote corners of the world.
Mark CameronBEc (Comm. Law)
Chief Commercial Officer aka "The Mentalist"
Mark was snapped up by Moneytech in 2008, a year after graduating from the University of Sydney. Like Hugh, Mark has a real entrepreneurial flair with a true hunger for helping businesses grow through clever financial products and expertise that’s hard to find elsewhere.
He has been intimately involved in all aspects of Moneytech’s business and was integral in the development of our debtor finance solutions that are now responsible for a significant portion of Moneytech’s business.
Mark's an eternal realist who appreciates a good rain storm. (Romantic at heart, no?) He loves a full-bodied shiraz and is a long-suffering Waratahs fan.
Paul McCannBComm CA MBA (Exec) FFin
Chief Operating Officer aka “The Action Man”
Paul’s a senior financial services executive and Board Director with over 20 years Domestic and International experience in Banking and Finance. Paul joined Moneytech in 2016 as COO following 6 years at GE Capital where he ran the $2.6BN Corporate Finance Division across Australia & NZ. Paul brings his unique blend of Business Development, Risk, and Merger & Acquisition skills to the Moneytech table.
Which, in turn, is delivered to our clients at every interaction to help them succeed in their own endeavours. Paul, his wife and son, all enjoy the great Australian outdoors. They go camping off the grid whenever they get half a chance.
Saxon BartropB. InfoTech
Chief Technology Officer aka "The Architect"
A true I.T. visionary, Saxon is an asker of tough questions who’s not afraid to reside outside the norm. We see him as agent for the creation of radical client value.
Saxon first forged his banking and payments technology pedigree by driving the most critical core platform transformations in Australian financial services. Since beginning his career in 2001, Saxon has led blockchain, banking, payments and technology architecture at such notable places as KPMG, IBM and two of the big bad banks - CBA, NAB. He’s also had entrepreneurial forays into peer-to-peer lending and other startups.
Never taking his foot of the pedal, in his spare time Saxon’s a cyclist, cook, traveler, investor and startup advisor.
State Manager VIC/TAS/SA/WA aka “Muscles”
Nick joined Moneytech in 2016 after holding several senior roles within corporate banking over the last 15 years in both the UK & Australia. Nick’s career has predominantly been focused on delivering structured cash flow lending solutions for SME clients through to publicly listed ASX companies. His most recent role prior to joining the Moneytech Group was as the National Sales Manager of Debtor & Trade Finance at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank. Nick leads our VIC/TAS/SA/WA business and is responsible for the growth and strategy in these regions.
Outside of work Nick is full steam ahead hacking up golf courses, travelling, and spending time on the Apple Isle visiting friends and family.
Christian Westerlind WigstromBA (Hons), MPhil (Oxon), PhD (Oxon)
Head of Payments aka “The Doctor”
Christian’s a classic overachiever. He’s worked as a speech writer and economic advisor in the House of Lords. Was ‘Chief of Staff and Markets’ at an agriculture and renewable-energy company in Zimbabwe. Has consulted for firms in Iraq, Sweden, the US and the UK. Holds numerous prestigious degrees including a PhD in International Relations from Oxford. Plus he was once a Conscript Sergeant in the Swedish Defence Force. As if all that wasn’t enough, he’s also composed choral music performed by choirs in Sweden and the UK.
As Head of Payments, Christian is refining and customising our services and solutions to help our clients grow even faster.
Jasmine QiBCom CPA
Financial Controller aka “The Boss”
Jasmine joined in Oct 2006, to help Moneytech grow from a start up to become the multi-faceted business that it is today. As such, she’s been involved in the development of all financial systems, group tax returns, preparation of consolidated statutory reports and cash flow projections. Jasmine holds just about every financial qualification imaginable. She’s a qualified CPA, has completed all 3 levels of Charted Financial Analyst (CFA), plus many other industry qualifications. In her spare time, she ‘controlled’ two diversified funds with investments in property (Australian & Chinese), global share markets and P2P lending.
She loves fashion and shopping for clothes with her daughter while her hubby waits in the car.
